SPECULATIVE FICTION WRITING
FOR SOCIAL CHANGE
WHY?
By experimenting with fantastic narratives and visions of the future, this wting method suddenly give rise to urgent, concrete and highly personal questions.
It strengthens our ability to empathise and encourages people of all ages to think critically and self-reflectively, especially when it comes to otherwise conflict-ridden topics such as the climate crisis, socio-economic injustice, wars and all other forms of physical and psychological violence.
In this workshop, participants are instructed to write their own speculative stories, engage in storytelling in small groups, develop communal narratives and discuss insights from the process and the application to their own lives.
WHAT?
Introduction to the method “speculative writing for social change”. Speculative writing and storytelling deals with as yet unrealised but hidden possibilities of a society. It speculates, sometimes quite realistically, sometimes fantastically, on how protagonists would behave if certain structures of a society were different from ours.
